The conference, organized by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) in cooperation with the Banque de France, marked the third time Cambodia has hosted the event following previous editions in 1996 and 2011. Held under the theme “The Autonomy of Central Banks in the Face of State and Public Expectations,” the gathering brought together 26 governors of francophone central banks for a series of discussions on monetary policy, financial stability, governance and the challenges posed by rapid technological change. Central Bank Independence Under Scrutiny The conference focused on how central banks can maintain their independence while responding to increasing demands from governments, businesses and the public in an environment shaped by economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions and digital transformation.
