As a high school teacher who’s teaching English to 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students, I witness firsthand both the incredible potential of Cambodian youth and the infrastructural hurdles that can occasionally slow their stride. Around the globe, education is rapidly digitising. Interactive science modules, digital libraries and rich media are becoming the standard tools of the 21st-century classroom. Cambodia is moving swiftly in this direction, driven by a national commitment to expanding STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. However, a practical challenge remains: how do we deliver these data-heavy digital tools to provincial schools where internet connectivity is often limited, costly or unreliable? The answer lies in building resilient, offline-ready digital school networks – a concept that is already beginning to take root.
