Ministry of Tourism and the Embassy of India Collaborate on Quick Impact Projects to Support the Development of Cambodia’s Tourism and Ecotourism Sectors with Efficiency, Transparency, and Accountability H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, received H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Cambodia, and senior colleagues for a meeting to discuss and review the implementation progress of three key Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) and explore ways to further strengthen and expand bilateral tourism cooperation between Cambodia and India in the coming year at the Ministry of Tourism. During this third fruitful meeting, H.E. the Ambassador reaffirmed India’s continued support for the Ministry of Tourism in ensuring the successful completion of all three assistance projects under the Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) framework. These projects aim to support the development of ecotourism communities in Cambodia with assistance from the Government of India. In response, H.E. the Minister expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of India for their continued support and assistance to Cambodia across various sectors, particularly tourism and ecotourism. This assistance has been provided through development support under the Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) framework, including the following three projects: The Project on Enhancing Ecotourism Activities in Phat Sanday Ecotourism Community, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia; The Project on Enhancing Ecotourism Activities in Toul Poan Tali Boeung Sneah Community, Prey Veng Province, Cambodia; and The Project on Developing a Mobile Application to Promote Tourism and Ecotourism Communities. The mobile application project aims to promote the tourism potential and products of tourism and ecotourism communities nationwide under the management of the Ministry of Tourism. The Ministry of Tourism will continue to work closely with the Embassy of India in Cambodia and all relevant stakeholders to implement the remaining activities according to plan, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and accountability. These joint efforts aim to bring all three projects to successful completion and deliver meaningful benefits to people in the tourism communities. On this occasion, H.E. the Minister also informed the Ambassador that Cambodia’s private sector is well prepared to accommodate the anticipated increase in Indian tourist arrivals following the resumption of direct flights between Kolkata and Siem Reap by IndiGo Airlines. He also highlighted Cambodia’s safety and security, development across various sectors, rich tourism potential, and warm hospitality. These strengths are complemented by the close cultural, civilizational, and historical ties between Cambodia and India, which span thousands of years.
