Under this bilateral arrangement, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has partnered with China’s economic representatives to launch an extensive rehabilitation project targeting the northern section of this vital highway, stretching from Kratie province to the Trapeang Kriel international border checkpoint in Stung Treng province. The formal implementation agreement was officially signed on May 19, 2026. The ceremony was conducted under the leadership of His Excellency Pal Chandara, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the designated Project Director, who attended as the high representative of Minister Peng Ponea. Signing alongside him was Ms. Zhong Jie, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cambodia. Spanning a total length of 96.63 kilometers, the infrastructure initiative focuses on substantially upgrading the road’s existing structure to handle growing traffic demands. The project will see the corridor fully repaved
