On 26 November 2025, the Asian Vision Institute (AVI) convened a seminar on “The Rise of the Global South and Its Implications for Japan–ASEAN Partnership” at Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh.
The discussion brought together senior officials, scholars, and experts to assess the Global South’s rising influence and its implications for Japan–ASEAN cooperation. Speakers emphasized Japan’s long-standing commitment to peace, stability, and rules-based cooperation under the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) vision, while reaffirming ASEAN’s centrality and the value of mutual trust among like-minded partners amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
