Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Rural Development Sign Memorandum of Understanding on “Partnership Cooperation for Promoting the Development of the Tourism and Rural Development Sectors” H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, together with H.E. CHHAY Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, presided over the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Rural Development on “Partnership Cooperation for Promoting the Development of the Tourism and Rural Development Sectors.” This MoU serves as an important strategic document and a testament to the cooperation between the two ministries in advancing the tourism and rural development sectors. It reflects their close collaboration and shared commitment to achieving three key objectives: To strengthen and expand cooperation between the two ministries in promoting tourism and developing tourism assets in rural areas, particularly through improving rural road connectivity, clean water supply, rural sanitation, rural community development, and model villages, thereby increasing the income of rural populations. To enhance the effectiveness of public service delivery and improve the living conditions of people in rural areas, while increasing tourist arrivals to support sustainable and inclusive development. To exchange and share experiences, technical expertise, and relevant information related to rural development and tourism in order to foster synergistic development and maximize the use of available resources. The signing ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary of State of both ministries, senior leaders of the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Tourism, as well as civil servants from both institutions, totaling approximately 100 participants. On this auspicious occasion, H.E. the Minister of Tourism expressed his sincere appreciation and high regard to H.E. the Minister, the leadership, and officials at all levels of the Ministry of Rural Development for their continuous dedication, unity, and commitment in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted by the Royal Government. Their efforts have resulted in numerous achievements that contribute to building a prosperous, inclusive, equitable, and sustainable rural society in Cambodia. Moreover, under the leadership of H.E. the Minister, the Ministry of Rural Development has also played an important role in supporting, promoting, and advancing the development of Cambodia’s tourism sector. H.E. the Minister of Tourism further stated that, with the high approval of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Ministry of Tourism continues to implement the “Visit Cambodia in Green Season 2026” Campaign from May to October. The campaign is guided by three key visions: Increasing the attractiveness of Cambodia to international tourists; Promoting domestic tourism movement; and Expanding tourist flows nationwide, particularly by strengthening tourism activities during the green season, with the aim of positioning Cambodia as a Year-Round Tourism Destination. H.E. the Minister also emphasized that, in order to develop and promote resilient, sustainable, and inclusive tourism growth, the Ministry of Tourism has introduced six key strategic priorities: Strengthening tourism market research and international tourism promotion to enhance Cambodia’s image and reputation on the global stage; Strengthening and expanding national and international cooperation; Facilitating travel to and from Cambodia and improving connectivity; Enhancing the quality of the tourism industry; Developing diverse and attractive tourism products across Cambodia; and Promoting domestic tourism and organizing tourism events to stimulate internal tourism flows in line with the vision: “To Love the Nation is to Know the Homeland.” Ministry of Rural Development Headquarters, June 1, 2026. #Cambodia #greenseasoncambodia #SolidaritySeason #ministryoftourismcambodia #huothak
