Ministry of Tourism Partners with Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration to Organize Workshop on "Good Hospitality, Safe Tourism" Preah Sihanouk Province: His Excellency Hor Sarun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Facilitating Travel and Transport of Tourists and Travelers at International Border Gates and International Gates Nationwide, presided over the opening ceremony of the workshop. The event was attended by Mr. Samut Sothearith, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, national working groups, trainers from the Ministry of Tourism and the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Department of Tourism, the provincial administration, the provincial One Window Service Unit, city administrations (Preah Sihanouk, Kampong Som, and Koh Rong), surrounding district administrations, provincial/city/district police headquarters, all commune chiefs across the three cities, immigration police officers, Customs and Excise officials, and Cambodian Quarantine officials at the Autonomous Port and International Airport of Preah Sihanouk, the Preah Sihanouk Tourism Association, the Preah Sihanouk Tourist Transport Association, and local tourism business operators—totaling approximately 100 participants. The workshop aimed to promote good hospitality services and provide a warm welcome to tourists at every destination and service point, enhancing destination attractiveness and boosting tourist satisfaction. Tourism is a crucial economic sector for Cambodia. It creates jobs, increases income, stimulates investment, develops infrastructure, improves local livelihoods, and promotes Cambodia's rich civilization, culture, traditions, and potential to national and international tourists. Under the leadership of His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, the Ministry of Tourism is dedicated to developing the sector in alignment with the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy – Phase I. The ministry continues to execute the Tourism Development Master Plan and collaborate closely with relevant ministries and institutions. Furthermore, the ministry has established legal framework standards, policies, strategic plans, and development initiatives under the strategic slogans "Tourism for All, All for Tourism" and "Every Person Is a Promoter of Cambodian Tourism." These efforts aim to drive tourism growth, ensure high competitiveness, sustainability, and inclusiveness, and transform Cambodia into a leading global destination offering diverse opportunities and warmth. His Excellency Hor Sarun emphasized that "good hospitality" is an indispensable part of quality tourism development. Tourists remember more than just the places they visit, hotels they stay in, or food they consume; they carry long-lasting memories of their experiences, feelings, reception, care, and sense of safety. Good hospitality builds a positive experience, a positive experience drives satisfaction, and tourist satisfaction builds the reputation and appeal of a destination. He added that good hospitality is a service culture that begins with border checkpoint officials, authorities, competent officers, transport providers, hotels, restaurants, tour guides, vendors, and local residents. Every interaction is an opportunity to shape Cambodia's image. Safety serves as the foundation of visitor confidence. Tourists consistently seek assurance regarding their safety, access to assistance when needed, accuracy of information, and ease of travel.
