Cambodia is a Truly Safe Tourism Destination, Ensuring Security for International Tourists and Investors Visiting for Tourism and Business Purposes His Excellency HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, presided over a working discussion with a Chinese delegation led by Ms. Sun Guizhen, President and Secretary-General of the China Transport Services Association. The delegation is visiting to participate in the Cambodia Tourism Marketplace 2026 (CTM 2026 Mini-Series). The meeting was attended by leaders from the Ministry of Tourism, Oknha Lu Meng (Co-Chair of the Tourism Working Group), Oknha Din Somethearith (President of the Cambodia Tourism Federation), Oknha Hy Sothea (National President of the Cambodia Hotel Association), Dr. Thourn Sinan (Chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter), Mr. Jean-Claude Dhez (President of the Cambodia Spa and Wellness Association), and representatives from 17 companies from the People's Republic of China, totaling approximately 40 participants. On this auspicious occasion, the Minister highlighted the Pilot Project Free Visa. Through this 4-month campaign, Cambodia expects to attract at least 500,000 additional Chinese tourists. Both the Royal Government and the Cambodian private sector are fully prepared to welcome Chinese visitors during this 4-month trial period. Furthermore, the Minister stated that he will lead a Cambodian delegation to Beijing on June 4 to organize the official launch event for this Pilot Project Free Visa. He welcomes further joint promotional efforts between the private sectors of China and Cambodia. Additionally, the General Department of Immigration of Cambodia is preparing to deploy Smart Gates at Techo International Airport and Siem Reap Angkor International Airport to facilitate the arrival of Chinese tourists. At the same time, the Minister emphasized safety, security, and the quality of tourism services. He stressed that the Royal Government of Cambodia is strongly committed to fighting online scams through: A Zero Online Scam Policy, Laws enacted to combat technological fraud and cybercrimes, The implementation of strict, nationwide crackdowns on online scams. His Excellency the Minister further underscored that regarding the quality of tourism services, Cambodia will implement the China Ready mechanism. The Ministry of Tourism has been assessing tourism businesses to award "China Ready" certificates, ensuring convenience and high-trust service quality for Chinese tourists. Note on the Event: The Cambodia Tourism Marketplace 2026 (CTM 2026 Mini-Series) is organized under a strong partnership between the Ministry of Tourism, the Cambodia Tourism Federation, and the Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter (PATA Cambodia) as the Lead Organizer. The CTM 2026 Mini-Series is a year-long strategic destination marketing campaign under the theme "Cambodia to the World." It serves as a continuous marketing platform to attract tourists and position Cambodia as a diversified and competitive destination in the global tourism market. The CTM 2026 Mini-Series events will run monthly, featuring special tourism business programs, destination highlights, and cross-sector collaborations throughout the year. These events will facilitate direct business-to-business (B2B) networking between international buyers and Cambodian suppliers/sellers.
