标题: Viscan Transforms B29 Highway Project With Digital Twin Technology
Viscan GmbH has transformed its reality capture workflow for the B29 highway expansion in Baden-Württemberg, turning an initially unreliable digital process into a high-performance digital twin system for one of Germany’s first fully digital construction sites.
The B29 project includes nine new structures, bridges, and retaining walls. Viscan’s role was to provide construction teams and project stakeholders with an accurate, continuously updated digital representation of the site, documenting progress on a daily basis using drones and handheld scanners.
However, the company initially faced major problems with its cloud-based processing system. Large volumes of daily reality-capture data caused performance and accuracy issues, forcing employees to manually rework scans and putting the project schedule at risk.
To address the problem, Viscan partnered with Bentley Systems and adopted iTwin Capture as its cloud processing engine. The new workflow enabled the company to automatically generate high-quality reality meshes and georeferenced point clouds from large datasets, eliminating much of the manual rework.
Viscan also used Orbit 3DM to bring mobile mapping data and other project information into a unified 3D environment.
