**PHNOM PENH, Oct 14 (**KPT**)** – Cambodia is determined to prevent online scam operations from returning following a nationwide crackdown on cybercrime networks, a senior government official said.
Chhay Sinarith, senior minister in charge of special missions and permanent vice-chairman of the Commission for Combating Technology-Based Fraud, said authorities had intensified efforts to dismantle scam centres, clear sites used by criminal groups and prosecute those responsible.
Responding to questions about an Al Jazeera report on a site in Koh Kong province, Chhay said Cambodia had never denied the existence of online scams and had taken legal and enforcement measures to eradicate them.
He said investigations were continuing to identify and arrest alleged masterminds and accomplices. The activities shown in the report occurred before the government's large-scale crackdown, he added.
