The initiative was central to the twenty-fifth meeting of the Investment Promotion Working Group in Preah Sihanouk Province, which was held on June 5, 2026. Presided over by HE Hean Sahip, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the provincial investment working group, the session focused on establishing special incentives to attract high-value international projects. During the assembly, officials reviewed a comparative study analyzing successful island development models from around the globe alongside the specific opportunities available on Koh Rong. Under the umbrella of the Special Program to Promote Investment in Preah Sihanouk Province, the group discussed implementing additional strategic measures to draw global capital. The master plan aims to reposition the island as a top-tier international hub, focusing heavily on eco-tourism, luxury hospitality, and wellness tourism. Koh Rong City encompasses a total land area of 11,323.89 hectares and features a coastline spanning approximately 61 kilometers.
