On 20 May 2026, His Excellency SUN Sovanna, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Representative of His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, led the Cambodian delegation attend the 2nd Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping in the Francophone Environment, held in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco.
In his address, His Excellency SUN Sovanna recalled that, having endured the devastation of war, Cambodia deeply values peace. He quoted Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, reaffirming that commitment to peace and participation in peacekeeping operations have long been the fundamental principles of Cambodia’s domestic and foreign policies. The national slogan “We Love Peace” embodies this enduring commitment.
He emphasized Cambodia’s transformation from a country that hosted United Nations peacekeeping operations in the early 1990s to the one that now actively contributes its own Blue Helmets under the UN flag to support peace and stability in conflict‑affected countries. He also announced that Phnom Penh will host the 20th Francophonie Summit this coming November, which will provide an important opportunity to promote the shared values of peace, dialogue, and solidarity.
