Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal presides over the groundbreaking of development projects in Kampot and Kep provinces designed to bolster tourism and sustainable livelihoods
The Royal Government of Cambodia has officially commenced a major infrastructure development project targeted at coastal communities in Kep and Kampot provinces. Valued at over 13 million dollars, the initiative was inaugurated on March 29, 2026, during a ceremony presided over by His Excellency Say Samal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction.
According to the Ministry of Land Management, the project is a collaborative effort between the provincial working groups for Kampot and Kep, the Fisheries Administration, and the Land Allocation for Social and Economic Development Phase III (LASED III) team. The construction activities will benefit several coastal areas, specifically the fishing communities of Prek Thnot, Trapeang Ropov, Trapeang Sangke, and Kampong Samaki in Kampot, alongside the Ou Krasar community in Kep.
The investment is strategically designed to provide alternative and supplementary livelihoods for community members whose traditional income has been rooted in seasonal and traditional fishing.
