**300 Youths Mark Former Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Journey against the Khmer Rouge
TBOUNG KHMUM - Nearly 300 youths from across the country on June 20 took part in a commemorative march to the Techo Koh Thma X16 Military Historical Site in Memot district, Tboung Khmum province.
They marked the 49th anniversary of the journey that led to the ousting of the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia.
The event was led by Hun Many, president of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia.
The X16 historical site, which is located in Koh Thmor village, Tonlong commune, along the Cambodia-Vietnam border, is known as the site where former Prime Minister Hun Sen and four companions began their journey on June 20, 1977, which would lead to the defeat of the regime in January 1979.
According to the organizers of the march, the event was meant to help Cambodia’s younger generations better understand this chapter of Cambodia’s history and the events that preceded the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime.**
