Siem Reap Province: The selection of Cambodia as one of the race destinations for “Race Across the World” presents a valuable opportunity to showcase Cambodia’s beauty, rich heritage and culture, as well as the warmth and hospitality of the Cambodian people, to audiences around the world. Following his participation in the Closing Ceremony of the National Workshop on “Promoting Film Tourism in Cambodia,” H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, took the opportunity to visit, meet with, and encourage the production crew and contestants of “Race Across the World,” comprising 42 members and led by Mr. JAVIER LLANOS SANCHEZ, Head of the “Race Across the World” team, during the filming of the programme at Ta Prohm Temple in Siem Reap Province on 20 August 2026. The visit aimed to warmly welcome and encourage the international production team for choosing Cambodia as a filming location for the programme, while demonstrating the Ministry of Tourism’s strong attention to and support for international television and film productions in Cambodia. The visit also sought to promote film and international entertainment programmes as effective platforms for showcasing Cambodia’s tourism potential, cultural heritage, history, civilisation, natural resources, and the diversity of its tourism destinations to international audiences. On the occasion, H.E. the Minister further highlighted that the selection of Ta Prohm Temple as a filming location provides an excellent opportunity to showcase to the world the unique charm of the Angkor region, where ancient architecture, cultural heritage and spectacular natural surroundings blend harmoniously. It also contributes to enhancing Cambodia’s international profile as an attractive and welcoming tourism destination for both international visitors and international film and television productions. It should be noted that “Race Across the World” is an adventure travel competition in which contestants race across multiple countries on a limited budget, relying primarily on local modes of transportation. Along the journey, participants have the opportunity to engage directly with local communities and experience their ways of life, cultures, traditions and tourism destinations. As part of the race, the programme travels through several countries, including China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Indonesia.
