农林渔业部11月5日发布消息，柬埔寨将在今年年底前启用“湄公河江豚监测、监控与保护中心”，用于守护境内濒危淡水江豚种群。该中心的核心是把分散的巡护与观测力量整合起来，对江豚活动水域实施更密集的实时监控，从而缩短发现异常、响应处置的时间。湄公河江豚是柬埔寨重点保护的旗舰物种，近年渔业部门持续与保护区巡护队及沿岸社区合作，打击非法渔具、电鱼等威胁。
