German company TUI Hotels & Resorts, in cooperation with OCIC, opens its third major hotel in Cambodia, TUI Suneo Olympia Phnom Penh, to meet the growing demand from tourists from Europe and around the world H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, attended as a presiding dignitary and delivered congratulatory remarks at the official grand opening ceremony of TUI Suneo Olympia Phnom Penh, marking the first launch of the TUI Suneo brand in Cambodia and further expanding the presence of German company TUI Hotels & Resorts in Cambodia, following the success of its projects in Sihanoukville and Siem Reap. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Silke Röfer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Cambodia; Oknha Dr. Lim Lina, Vice President of OCIC; Mr. Artur Gerber, CEO of TUI Hotels & Resorts; Oknha Charles Vann, Managing Director of Cambodia Airports Investment Co., Ltd. (CAIC); as well as leaders of the Ministry of Tourism, private-sector representatives, and more than 100 national and international distinguished guests at TUI Suneo Olympia Phnom Penh. On this occasion, H.E. the Minister highly commended and appreciated the significant investment decision made by one of the world’s major tourism companies in Cambodia and warmly congratulated TUI Hotels & Resorts on the grand opening of TUI Suneo Olympia Phnom Penh, the company’s third major hotel in Cambodia, following the opening of TUI Blue Sihanoukville in Sihanoukville Province and TUI Blue Angkor Grace in Siem Reap Province. H.E. the Minister also highlighted that the expansion of TUI Hotels & Resorts’ presence in Cambodia makes an active contribution to the development of the tourism sector, particularly the accommodation (hotel) sector, while also providing direct employment opportunities for thousands of Cambodians across the company’s three locations. H.E. the Minister further emphasized that the decision to open this new hotel is a timely and appropriate one, as Cambodia will host the 20th Summit of Francophone Countries from 14 to 16 November 2026. The Ministry of Tourism has also been assigned to organize the accompanying “Francophonie Village” program from 13 to 17 November 2026 at Wat Botum Park. The summit will bring together Heads of State and Government, leaders of major international organizations, and participants from more than 90 countries across all continents, as well as thousands of private-sector companies. At the same time, H.E. the Minister expressed his appreciation to H.E. Silke Röfer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cambodia, for attending and presiding over this important ceremony. Her presence demonstrates support and encouragement for major German companies investing in Cambodia, as well as for further strengthening and expanding cooperation across all sectors, particularly tourism cooperation between Cambodia and Germany. Once again, H.E. the Minister expressed his gratitude to TUI Hotels & Resorts, OCIC, and all relevant stakeholders for contributing to strengthening public-private partnerships under the “Dynamic Single Stakeholder” approach, expanding business opportunities, and promoting the development of Cambodia’s tourism sector. He also highlighted their strong confidence in the Royal Government of Cambodia under the proper, wise, and forward-looking leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, as well as their recognition of Cambodia as a safe, welcoming, and attractive tourism destination.
