**Traffic Congestion, Floods Frustrate Phnom Penh Residents - Kiripost Survey**
Over the last three decades Cambodia’s capital city Phnom Penh has undergone rapid urbanisation with the city’s population growing from slightly over one million people in 1998 to over 2.5 million inhabitants in 2026, according to World Population Review data.
As the population grows so does the demand for better public infrastructures and urban planning. However, Phnom Penh residents often face some frustrations during their daily lives such as traffic congestion, poor waste management, flooding during the rainy season, noise pollution and unusable sidewalks.
