H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, together with H.E. Nuon Pharat, Governor of Kampong Thom Province, presided over a cycling event from Kampong Thom Province to the Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Complex and an obstacle trail running event under the theme “The Road to Isanapura, the Capital of Chenla before the Angkorian Period.” The events were organized to celebrate the 9th anniversary of the inscription of the Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Complex on the UNESCO World Heritage List (8 July 2017 – 8 July 2026), while promoting Cambodia’s cultural, heritage, and nature-based tourism destinations and encouraging tourist arrivals in line with the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaign.
The grand celebration was attended by Excellencies, senior officials of the Ministry of Tourism, representatives of ministries and institutions, tourism industry associations, sponsoring companies and private-sector partners, content creators, influencers, KOLs, athletes, and both domestic and international tourists. In total, approximately 2,000 participants joined the events.
Around 1,000 participants took part in the 30-kilometre cycling event, including international cyclists from Germany, Tunisia, and Algeria. Noting that participation had exceeded expectations, H.E. the Minister emphasized that the overwhelming turnout reflected the public’s unity and heartfelt support for preserving Cambodia’s invaluable cultural heritage, particularly the internationally recognized Sambor Prei Kuk World Heritage Site. He highlighted the importance of promoting tourism in line with the vision of “Tourism Connected to the Territory” and “To Love the Nation is to Know the Land,” while further enhancing Cambodia’s reputation on the global stage and demonstrating to the world that “Cambodia is a safe, warm, and hospitable tourism destination,” welcoming both domestic and international visitors from around the globe.
To further stimulate domestic tourism and support local economies, H.E. the Minister also encouraged all Cambodians and their families to explore the country’s diverse tourism destinations, especially during the Green Season, from May to October, when Cambodia’s natural landscapes are at their most lush and beautiful.
