**Siem Reap Records Notable Surge in Indian Tourist Arrivals**
Siem Reap has recorded a noticeable increase in Indian tourist arrivals in recent weeks, driven by improved air connectivity and shifting travel sentiment following the Thai military’s demolition of a Hindu Vishnu statue near the Thailand–Cambodia border. The Angkor Tour Guide Association cited the launch of direct Kolkata–Siem Reap flights by IndiGo as a key factor, reducing travel time and costs, and the redirected visitors from Thailand to Cambodia, home to Angkor Wat, originally a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The surge is already benefiting local hotels, restaurants, transport services and tour operators, with Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism welcoming Indian travelers and highlighting the country’s shared cultural heritage, alongside existing direct services between New Delhi and Phnom Penh.
