Online scam networks have become one of the most serious transnational crime challenges in Southeast Asia and beyond. Industrial-scale compounds in Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and other parts of the region generate tens of billions of dollars annually through romance fraud, investment schemes, voice phishing and related cybercrimes.
