Tour Prices in Malaysia Rise Up to 80% on Fuel Costs
KUALA LUMPUR, April 3, 2026 — Tourism costs in Malaysia are rising sharply as transport operators pass on higher diesel prices linked to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, local media reported.
Tour bus and van rental rates have surged by up to 80%, with the maximum daily rental for a tour bus increasing from about 1,205 ringgit to 2,200 ringgit, while smaller vans now cost up to 1,800 ringgit from around 985 previously, according to the Malay Mail.
Operators say they are no longer able to absorb escalating fuel costs as diesel prices have climbed in recent weeks, forcing them to raise rates.
