柬埔寨旅游部部长胡哈(HUOT Hak)近日主持了贡布市申办联合国教科文组织创意城市网络(美食领域)的最终咨询研讨会。出席会议的人员包括联合国教科文组织驻柬埔寨代表弗拉维奥·博内蒂(Flavio Bonetti)、文化艺术部国务秘书彭莫尼玛卡拉(Pen Monymakara)、贡布省省长毛托宁(Mao Thonin),以及来自马德望、蒙多基里、拉塔纳基里省的代表、私营部门代表和专家等,共计超过200人。
胡哈部长表示,此次研讨会旨在展示柬埔寨在推广文化价值、创造力及地方特色方面的集体承诺。他向联合国教科文组织驻柬埔寨代表处、文化艺术部、贡布省政府、相关技术工作组以及当地工匠、企业家、生产者和厨师表达了感谢,肯定了各方在准备提名材料及保护文化与美食遗产方面的贡献。
贡布省拥有丰富的自然资源、法式殖民建筑遗产,以及多项获得地理标志(GI)认证的农产品,包括贡布胡椒、贡布海盐及盐花、贡布鱼露、贡布榴莲及新鲜海鲜。胡哈部长指出,这些资源为贡布申办美食创意城市奠定了基础。
当前旅游业已从单纯的观光转向追求文化、美食、艺术及当地生活方式的深度体验。加入联合国教科文组织创意城市网络将作为战略平台,有助于吸引投资、提升竞争力并促进可持续发展。胡哈部长同时鼓励柬埔寨其他省市挖掘自身独特的文化与美食资产,为未来参与该网络做好准备。

Kampot City Prepares Bid to Join UNESCO Creative Cities Network in Gastronomy
H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, presided over the final consultation workshop on the preparation of Kampot City’s nomination dossier for membership in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in the field of Gastronomy. The workshop was attended by H.E. Mr. Flavio Bonetti, UNESCO Representative to Cambodia; H.E. Pen Monymakara, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts; H.E. Mao Thonin, Governor of Kampot Province; representatives from the Kampot Provincial Administration and relevant stakeholders in the province; representatives from Battambang, Mondulkiri, and Ratanakiri provinces; private sector representatives; and experts, totaling more than 200 participants.
On this occasion, H.E. the Minister emphasized that the workshop was not merely a technical consultation platform, but also a significant event demonstrating Cambodia’s collective commitment to promoting cultural values, creativity, and local identity for international recognition.
H.E. the Minister expressed his sincere appreciation to UNESCO Cambodia, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the Kampot Provincial Administration, the technical working groups of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, and all relevant stakeholders for their close collaboration in preparing the nomination dossier. He also commended the people of Kampot, including artisans, entrepreneurs, producers, and chefs, for their contributions to preserving and developing the province’s cultural and culinary heritage.
H.E. The Minister highlighted that Kampot possesses abundant potential, including natural resources, breathtaking landscapes, French colonial architectural heritage, and renowned agri-tourism products bearing Geographical Indication (GI) status and international recognition, such as Kampot Pepper, Kampot Salt and Salt Flower, Kampot Fish Sauce, Kampot Durian, and fresh seafood. These valuable assets provide a strong foundation for developing Kampot as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
At the same time, H.E. the Minister noted that modern tourism is no longer focused solely on sightseeing. Today’s travelers seek authentic experiences through culture, gastronomy, arts, music, and local lifestyles. Therefore, joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in Gastronomy would serve as a strategic platform to attract investment, enhance competitiveness, and promote sustainable development.
H.E. The Minister also encouraged other cities and provinces across Cambodia to conduct research, identify, explore, and showcase their unique cultural, culinary, and creative assets, in preparation for future participation in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
In his concluding remarks, H.E. the Minister expressed strong confidence that through close cooperation among all stakeholders, Kampot City would be able to elevate its profile and become a distinguished tourism destination, actively contributing to the promotion of gastronomy, creativity, cultural heritage, and sustainable development in Cambodia on the international stage.
It should be noted that Battambang City was designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in 2023, clearly demonstrating Cambodia’s cultural richness and creative potential to the world.
